Summer 2010

Wow! It has been a long time since I've looked at my Blog! Summer is coming to an end, I go back to work tomorrow and what to do. . . .what to do! I wish there was more time to go camping and playing around. Paul and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this summer and it was alot of fun! We spent the night at the Black Swan Inn and then we drove through Jackson and then through Yellowstone. It was alot of fun! Our dogs are alot of fun, Gunner has grown and caught up to Bailey in size. He is a bit of a spaz! Gunner loves to swim in the river as does Bailey. Paul took a trip to Alaska this summer and had a great time fishing! He is now gearing up for the 2010 Elk hunting season, the man never quits! One thing to the next!!!Well, lets see if I am smarter than the average cave man and post some pictures!

Gunner & Paul

Paul and his little shadow Gunner. Gunner would hop from one foot print to the next following Paul all the way down to the barn and back. So Cute!
So that was Gunner on the day we brought him home

Oh my goodness! I am such a slacker when it comes to this blog. It is already the middle of April and I have yet to post a picture of our new pup. So here it goes, I will try. I don't get on this enough to remember exactly what I am doing. Anyway this is Gunner. He is going on 4 months. He always thinks he is starving, so he eat's like a cow, not a dog.

Catch up

It has been a long time since I've even looked at my blog! It' is already March. We got a new puppy in February. He is a chocolate lab. He is quite a character. We named him Gunner. He doesn't really answer to Gunner, he doesn't really answer to anything. He is learning though. He knows Where his bed is, his bowl is and he even knows where we keep the dog food. He likes to play fetch with a duck wing and when we tell him to go lay down, he does! He likes to follow Paul around the yard. Bailey has tolerated him and had to put him in his place a few times.Bailey and Gunner get along really good, they keep each other company when we can't play with them.

Spark People - Cool Site

Still hanging in. I've been doing this program that Carrie showed me on Spark People. It is a pretty cool site that tracks nutrition, fitness ect... I've been doing it for about a week. Not much on the weight loss yet but I have been working out more and drinking 8 or more glasses of water a day. Tracking my food has been kind of eye opening...it helps me face up to all the junk that I have eaten in the past, I say past because since I have been doing the nutrition tracker I have been a whole lot better on cutting out alot of junk. Only lost a pound but I'll take it. Didn't realize how weak my legs were until I started my fitness routine and added front lunges. Holy Crap!! my thighs and butt cramped up and were sore for about four days. I do those lunges three times a week along with other strength training exercises. I'm hoping to be able to have stronger legs and arms so I can get up on a horse all by myself without looking like an idiot! Soooo... that is what has been going on this past week.

Motivation

Talked to Carrie this morning and got some more motivation to stick with the plan. Carrie has been going to the club and working on two miles a day except yesterday she went skiing with Austin. Told her about the Pinedale half marathon on September 25th this year, our friends Syd, Karen and Kris entered it last year and had a lot of fun.

Went to Spine Idaho with Bryan today. Dr. Farrell did an epideral injection in Bryans neck. We are hoping that this will take away his pain and help him recover. He has an appiontment with Dr. Newhouse on Tuesday, we are hoping for a real good report. It is about time that he finally gets some relief.

Darrell

My Dad Rocks! Today I met my mom, aunt Joanie , dad and dads speech therapist at a doctor appointment in Idaho falls. This appointment was with Dr. Hinckley the Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist. Dad saw him three months ago. Our hope was that he is closer to getting his trake out. Dad has been working extra hard to get stronger. He has done everything that is asked of him and then more. He's improved so much that his doctor in Rexburg ordered occupational therapy to start back up again. They had canceled it months ago because they didn't think he had made any progress. Dad has always been one of those people that confronts his challenges head on and always tries to do more than is expected. Dad has always pushed himself to do more push ups, more sit ups, go longer on the eliptical, run more miles faster, go , go , go.....up until the day he fell and cracked his head open. He wasn't expected to live through the weekend. He wasn't expected to wake up from his coma. He wasn't expected to respond to, or recognize people. He wasn't expected to show much of anything and he is proving everyone that has ever doubted him wrong. Dad is a real inspiration. My Dad is brave, smart, funny, caring, a spiritual giant and he loves all his family and friends. You Go Dad!!! At his appointment today Dr. Hinckley was pleased with his improvements and has ordered more therapy's to his schedule He suggested ice chips to help with his swallowing and congestion, dad hasn't been able to eat or drink anything for 19 months. Dr. Hinckley also ordered some electrical stimulation to help stimulate and strengthen the muscles in his throat to help him strengthen his swallowing. His next appointment is April 15th. I can't wait to see how much he improves.

Mom and Sisters "The best of Friends"

These are the most important women in my life.
My mom Joan - is such a good example and has taught me so much, especially lately with my dad. She is so compassionate and loving, loyal and trusting. She is creative and artistic, she is beautiful, kind and loving. Mom is spiritual and faithful in her beliefs. Mom is a true example of what a good wife, mother and daughter or friend should be.
My sister Carrie - is the kind of person that everyone wants to be around. She is beautiful, fun and very talented. Carrie is one of the most patient people that I know. She is kind, loyal and giving. Carrie is a great mother, daughter, grandmother and friend. Carrie loves kids and is a great teacher.
My sister Jane - is also beautiful, talented, very energetic, creative, and loads of fun. Jane is also an awesome mother, sister, daughter and friend. Jane is daring and tough just like Carrie and mom but Jane has this no fear chance taking ability. I am blessed to have these women in my life. I learn from them constantly. My hope is that I can give back to them half as much as they have given me in my life. God must really love me to have sent me these angels to share in my life. I couldn't have asked for better friends than the ones I have in my mom and sisters.
Well, I did it!I stuck to my word and did a walk jog tonight of 3 miles on the dreaded tread. I told myself that I would do at least one mile a day no matter what. I'm on day 4 and still on track.

New @ This

So I'm new @ this and not sure if I'm even doing it right. My Sister Carrie told me I should do a Blog since she just started one. Her daughter who is quite good at blogging helped her set hers up. I'm jumping in blindly hoping that I'm doing right. Sooooo if this all comes out mumbo jumbo then I will know I've failed. Try try again.....My sis is going to do her blog around her training and weight loss. She is going to turn 50 this summer and decided to go for it and try to train for a future 1/2 marathon....tell me about it !!! sounds crazy ya I know, but being the loving sister that I am I will cheer her on all the way. I wish I had the ambition and the guts to do something like that. I know she will need alot of encouragement and support, so I am there for her all the way except for maybe doing the crazy marathon thing myself. I am inspired to at least try to like exercise alittle bit. I do walk 3 miles a day, up until the weather made it difficult so I've attempted to do it indoors on my treadmill with little success. I think once I am back to work on Monday, a routine will then kick in. I've only attempted 1 to 2 miles so far. I want to get up to being able to jog the complete mile and work up to maybe......just maybe I may be able to enter a 5k this summer. We will see. I always have good intentions in January and I don't know they always seem to get old. Carrie said that if we did a blog then other people would read our stuff and then we would be more inclined to keep it up. Wish me luck I have yet to get on my treadmill today and it is already 5p.m. Promise I will do it though. Clocks a ticking .... gotta go Jog!!! Bye for now. Colette
